Thando Ntuli holds Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry at The University of the Witwatersrand, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Mathematics and Physical Sciences) at The University of Zululand and is completing BEd Honours (Mathematics and Sciences) at the University of KwaZulu Natal. He worked as a mathematics and Physical Science educator for 15 years producing high quality matric results with numerous distinctions and pass rates of over 80% on many occasions in a rural area.
His performances, pedagogic and content knowledge lead him to serve as district lead educator, cluster coordinator and moderator. He also served as teacher mentor in Scaffold program established by the chief circuit manager. He has been representing ILembe district in a provincial team assembled to formulate mathematics improvement plan as well as the development of provincial mathematics study and revision materials for grades 10-12 since 2015. He has been facilitating and presenting in many provincial teacher workshops as well as in MEC’s provincial matric high flyers’ camps. He has won district’s best mathematics educator awards and other performance certificates. He got appointed as Senior Education Specialist Subject Advisor for FET Mathematics at ILembe District, a position he currently holds.
His passion for the poor lead him to co-found Mathscientia, a project that offers mathematics and physical sciences tuition, career guidance, mentorship and support to matric learners, particularly those who want to rewrite matric but can’t afford finishing school exorbitant fees. He is also the chairperson of the church committee offering counselling and alms to the needy.
