Project Summary
After the initial announcement by the President of the Republic of South Africa on the State of the Nation disaster, we made it our mission that no student will go to bed hungry. Dr Musa Manzi Foundation launched the ‘Support A Student COVID-19 Fund ‘ an initiative aimed at raising funds to assist University students through food vouchers and parcels. Since the beginning of May 2020 our foundation has distributed more than 300 food parcels and voucher parcels to underprivileged students living around Braamfontein, Bryanston, Auckland Pack and Newtown in Johannesburg Gauteng.
We wish to thank our partners for their generous donations and support in addressing the escalating food insecurity among University students during the Pandemic, and helping us curb student hunger. The COVID-19 impact on students and food insecurity will be with us for at least 18 – 24 months, hence this initiative intends to continue supporting students with food parcels for the rest of the year, until December 2020. Your partnership in this regard will help us reach this goal and ensure that no student attends online classes, conducts research, writes exams and goes to bed hungry.
